Who issues the Lithuanian criminal record certificate?
The certificate (Lithuanian: teistumo pažyma) is issued by the Information Technology and Communications Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania — Informatikos ir ryšių departamentas prie LR VRM, or IRD. The data comes from the State Register of Suspects, Accused and Convicted Persons.
The department is the only authority in Lithuania that issues this document; translation agencies, including us, submit the request on your behalf and cannot issue the certificate themselves.
If you are in Lithuania and have a Lithuanian e-signature or access to Lithuanian e-banking, you can order the certificate yourself through the state portal epaslaugos.ird.lt. We work with people who cannot use that route: those living abroad without Lithuanian e-banking, those who are not Lithuanian citizens, and those who additionally need an apostille, a certified or sworn translation, or delivery of the paper original outside Lithuania or simply don't want to waist their time.
